A couple of friends and I had lunch at Gianni's for the first time. We were all very happy with our meals and service. Two of us had the stromboli, the other had the pizza/soup lunch special. The serving size was ample...we each had some to take home for lunch the next day. These days, it's hard to find good food at a decent price and good service. We were very happy with our lunch at Gianni's and we plan to return.
We always loved the Gianni's on 64 and happened to be near University so figured lets give the new spot a try. It was quiet when we arrived but it was def in between lunch and dinner. We sat at the bar and had a glass of wine while we chatted it up with our server (Sorry, never got her name) A man came in and sat at the bar and we struck up a conversation. Come to find out he was Todd, the new owner. We chatted about life and the restaurant and how he had interest in pizza and I feel like we made a friend. The salads we ordered were huge, the pizzas were excellent and our server was the one who made them. She was a wiz with the dough and put the toppings on perfectly even. My wife had her fave The Godfather and I tried the Cap and stem I think it is called. GREAT spot, really lively by the time we left and we will def be going back.Wishing Todd and his staff great success.
Please. Please. Please don't stop what you're doing. If you've lived in Sarasota as long as us, originally from the South Side of Chicago, in Sarasota over 25 years, you know Wade Tatangelo is a pinhead. The food in this town is awful, esp. the pizza.There's been a few good pizza joints at this location, but this is by far our favorite. Maybe the very original Filippo's comes quite close. Gianna's is the best pizza we've had out in a long time. The eggplant was delicious and the gnocchi type appetizer was awesome.The only other place with consistently excellent bar food is Brewster's on Main Street. I figured they'd burn out, but they haven't. Keep up the great work and thank you!
The ambiance of the restaurant and the kindness of the staff is spectacular! The pies I ordered were honestly one of the best I’ve had here on the West Coast. One of the pie makers, Jessica, was so incredibly talented and such a joy. Will definitely be back for seconds when I head back this way!
Stopped here on vacation with my fiancé. Absolutely blown away by the incredible experience. I must say, it's a gem. The pizzas truly capture the essence of Italian flavors, and their menu offers creative twists that stand out. Quality ingredients are evident, and their crust is exceptional – crispy outside, tender inside. If you appreciate great pizza, this place is worth a visit. Highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic culinary adventure!
Support local! This is a wonderful place to go for pizza, some of the best in Sarasota. When we went they had a Thai pizza that was phenomenal. The remodeling is clean and fresh but it lacks the charm and character of the previous place.
I was able to stop in and check out the renovated spot and I loved the new vibe! Great spot for amazing pizza and fresh pasta!! The Chicken Parm was perfectly cooked and my kid loved the Meat Lovers pizza!!! We will be back!! Took a half pepperoni / half cheese to go!!
